In honor of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, Commissioner Kevin Morrison helped bring together local leaders and experts on the subjects of domestic violence and sexual assault.
Click HERE to view Part I video of the panel discussion on Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault with Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx, WINGS Program, Inc. CEO Rebecca Darr, Northwest Center Against Sexual Assault Medical/Legal Advocate Annika Synnestvedt, Harper College Dean of Students Mary Kay Harton, and Harper College student Mariah Mendez.
Discussion continues in the Part II video which can be found HERE. Thank you Cook County Commissioner Scott Britton for moderating with me. The panelists were generous with their time, expertise and passion as we discussed how lawmakers, prosecutors, and advocates can work together to prevent domestic violence and sexual assault as well as support survivors.
I left the discussion feeling energized by what the panelists had to say about the progress we’ve made as a society, their work to continue to move this issue forward, and the innovative solutions they are implementing at their offices and organizations to educate the public and support survivors.
