“I’m horrified by another Black life being taken at the hands of the police. The generational pain and trauma that the Black community experiences is something I will never be able to comprehend. I stand in support of those expressing their pain and anger out in the streets and calling for an end to police brutality, white supremacy, and racism. The pain and anger over the injustices and history of racism in our country is justified and deserves to be heard loud and clear. Let us all focus on that message, and not be distracted by those who chose to exploit this situation to cause chaos. I’m committing as an elected official and a person to listen more, learn more, and actively work more to be anti-racist and fight for policies that reflect that. Black Lives Matter.”
